Numit 5% Cream
Numit 5% Cream
Numit Numbing cream is a topical anaesthetic cream that provides anaesthesia of the skin.
Fraxel laser treatment can offer incredible skin rejuvenation, but the idea of discomfort and immense pain often holds people back. Numbing creams offer practical relief, allowing you to undergo the procedure with conceivably less pain while still achieving beautiful, refreshed skin with Fraxel treatment.
Fraxel is a laser skin resurfacing procedure that helps repair skin by targeting specific areas of skin at a time of, whilst leaving the healthy skin around it intact. The laser sends tiny beams of light that create small, controlled, thermally affected spots1,2 that kick-start collagen production and promote healing. As the skin heals and regrows, it becomes smoother, firmer and uniform in texture.
Fraxel can improve fine lines, dark spots, uneven skin tone and scarring, giving your skin a fresh, youthful glow1–5.
Fraxel laser treatment can feel a bit uncomfortable or painful at times, but it is generally tolerable. Keep in mind that pain tolerance varies from person to person6,7. Some people may feel more moderate-to-strong pain or a "heat" sensation, while others may only feel mild discomfort1. Also, the deeper the treatment goes into the skin, the more intense the pain may be7.
That's where a topical anaesthetic like numbing creams can really help during Fraxel laser treatment6. Numit is a game changer for those worried about the ‘zap’, offering comfort and relief as a topical anaesthetic. This variability is why topical anaesthetic creams like Numit have become an important companion for the Fraxel laser treatment process.
Numit is a combination numbing cream that contains two active ingredients (local anaesthetics); lidocaine (lignocaine) 2.5%w/w and prilocaine 2.5%w/w8.
These ingredients are known to be able to dull pain sensations in the skin by disrupting the generation of pain signals that are sent by the nerves in the skin to the brain9.
Both of these ingredients can make a powerful combination to work together to interrupt pain signals, essentially telling your nerves to take a break.
Numit can form a reservoir of the active ingredients in the skin during application, and these ingredients can continue to be released from this reservoir and numb the area even after the cream is removed9. This is particularly useful when it comes to getting your skin ready for fraxel laser treatment.
Numit can be applied in three steps ‘COAT, COVER and CLEAN’ before a fraxel laser procedure to help minimise the pain sensation (Always read the label and follow the directions for use.)10:
Apply a thick layer of Numit cream to clean, intact skin at least 1 hour prior to treatment. Refer to the product information leaflet for the appropriate dosage.
Use an occlusive dressing (one that is air-tight and clear) to cover the area. Leave this dressing on for the recommended time according to the product information leaflet.
Remove the dressing immediately before the procedure and wipe off the cream. The procedure technician can help to clean the area.
Don't let the fear of pain stop you from achieving the smooth skin you deserve. By reducing pain sensations, you can approach Fraxel laser treatment with greater confidence and ease. With Numit, you can walk into your appointment confident that discomfort won’t stand in your way.
